Fort Myers, Florida

Located in Lee County and considered the Gateway to SW Florida, Fort Myers attracts a lot of visitors. As a major commercial center of the area, Fort Myers hosts many people each year who want to be part of the beaches, historic sites, Spring Training, and sun-drenched weather.

Two of the most historic residents were Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, both of whom had winter estates. “The Mangoes” was the Ford Estate. “Seminole Lodge”, located on 13 panoramic acres along the Caloosahatchee River, has a beautiful home, grounds and even a laboratory in which he was able to work. Both are popular attractions for both the locals and our visitors.

Named after Confederate Quartermaster General Abraham Myers, Fort Myers was the historic location of the southernmost battle of the Civil War. The Battle of Fort Myers was a brief skirmish that took place on February 20, 1865, right before the end of the Civil War.

The sensational climate of Fort Myers balances between Tropical savanna and a humid subtropical climate. June through September is the rainy season when almost 70% of all rain arrives. From October through June, most days are sunny and receives less than 3 inches of rain per month.

For those that love baseball, both the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox make their home in Fort Myers during Spring Training. The players stay locally, visit the local restaurants, play on the golf courses and other areas enjoying the weather while they are in town. The practices and games take place at their respective stadiums and offer an excellent opportunity to see the teams perform before the actual season begins.

Other popular attractions are the City of Palms Park, Historic downtown area of Fort Myers, Imaginarium Science Center, and the SW Fla Museum of History. The Ford and Edison Estates are also open to the public.

From the beucolic beachside hotels, open-air restaurants, and live music, Fort Myers and the Fort Myers Beach area have much to offer our population and those that come to visit. There is plenty of sunshine, fun, history, and entertainment for those who visit Fort Myers.
